Research Blog

In my student commercial I will be talking about the franchise Dunkin‘ Donuts . The codes and convention in a Dunkin’ ad is very common after I’ve watch a couple of them. They usually consist of when and where you’ll be able to purchase the drink or food item and has a voice over while showing you what’s the drink or food item. I find it very common and interesting and due to the fall changes I will be doing a commercial on the Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin Spice latte at Dunkin’. In most of their commercials it’s a Realistic and relatable narrative used with happy people voicing over. They had more of a descriptive and very mouth watering type of structure used to appeal to a customer.  Below there’s a snippet on a Dunkin commercial on the drink I’ll be advertising.

The Mis-En-Scene of Dunkin’ Donuts  commercial consist of :
Props- the drink or food they are making the ad about
Location- At a office, home or Dunkin location
Set design - like a regular day 10am
Makeup- gives a groggy look as if the actor/ actress has just woken up and needs coffee to be OK or a happy  and bright looking face
Costume- usually wears the uniform of Dunkin( white shirt with brown apron with Dunkin logo or a brown sweater with Dunkin logo)  Lighting Design - usually taken around 7-10am or mid day to give off a morning type of environment .
The Dunkin’ Donuts soundtrack do have Foley sounds (crunches of food and sips of a drink, etc.) ,  a sound motif and narration to describe and lead to  the meaning of the commercial
